Eco-Drive watch with a fully charged battery can be
150 to 240 days run without source. This period is
called dark transitional
reserve.
Some watches have a Citizen dark
transitional reserve of up
to 8 years. This enormous period for these
Watches accomplished by mapping the function of the
hand at a dark time (ie, the clock will be exposed
to any source of light) turns off by 24 hours. The
timing will be continued at these internal clocks,
however. Once the clock again a light source is
suspended, move the pointer to the current time and
the clock keeps running. The secondary battery in
the Eco-Drive watches, according to Citizen after 20
years still have a capacity of 80 percent.
